Not only will you be able to enjoy Lake Erie perch, delicious pierogi, and hot peach cobbler topped with Tofts ice cream, but also you can dance to the music of three of the top polka bands in the Midwest at the sixth annual Perch, Peach, Pierogi and Polka Festival over Labor Day weekend. The festival will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 109 E. Perry Street in downtown Port Clinton, Ohio.

On Saturday from noon to 5:00pm, performing will be the Duane Malinowski Orchestra. This band is considered by many to be the top polka band in northwest Ohio. Duane and his orchestra have performed at Caesars’ Windsor, the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas, Traverse City’s Leelandau Sands Casino, and on Caribbean Cruises. Duane released his first Polka CD last year, “Through the Years – the Two Sides of Duane” to outstanding reviews throughout the country from DJ’s and fans alike.

Highlighting the weekend music will be the Del Sinchak Band from Youngstown, Ohio. Del will play from 6pm to 10pm on Saturday, September 4 and again on Sunday from 1pm until 5pm. The Del Sinchak Band has seven successful releases on the award winning Peppermint label. The National Cleveland Style Polka Hall of Fame nominated four of these albums for the Album of the Year. The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences nominated the album “Let the Sunshine In” for a Grammy Award for the Best Polka Album in 1999. In 2005, Del’s album “Polkapizzazz” was also nominated for a Grammy.

The Del Sinchak Band has performed at major Polka festivals throughout the United States such as:
  • The Summer Music Fest in Frankenmuth, Michigan
  • The Lawrence Welk Polka Fest in Branson, Missouri
  • The Bethlehem Music Fest in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
  • The Iron World Music Fest in Chisholm, Minnesota
  • Seven Polka Festivals in Las Vegas, Nevada and one in Laughlin and Reno
  • The Octoberfest in Hartford, Wisconsin
  • Three cruises

Del Sinchak is a member of the National Cleveland Style Polka Hall of Fame and in 2009 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award. This group has won the hearts of thousands of polka fans with their energetic live performances.

The Wayne Tomsic Combo Band will be on stage on Sunday, September 5 from 6pm until 10pm. This band has been making great music in the Cleveland and surrounding area since the mid-1990’s. They performed at various festivals throughout Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Canada. The band was awarded the best new band in 2001 and was nominated as the Band of the Year four times by the National Cleveland Style Polka Hall of Fame. The word is out that Wayne is an extremely talented accordionist, who plays a unique midi-accordion, making it capable of sounding like several different instruments such as a sax or horn, strings, keyboard or bass.   Wayne produced his first music CD in 2004, which was nominated as one of the best recording of the year.

The festival will be held on Saturday, September 4 and Sunday, September 5 from 11am until 11pm. Admission for adults is $3.00 and anyone under 18 is free. The parking lot is under a tent and all festivities will continue rain or shine. For more information contact Jerry Arnold at 419-341-3743 or e-mail grarnold@thirdplanet.net or Ed Verkin at 419-341-4776, also check our web site at (www.kofc1750.com).
